Remembrance, Dedication, Reflection

CSEA members, Thruway Authority leadership, coworkers, family and friends gathered in Silver Creek to dedicate a memorial in honor of Stephen "Steve" Ebling, one year after his passing.

Speakers, including Local 058 President Sean Kennedy, shared stories of Steve's dedication, his work ethic, and the profound impact he had on those around him.

The new memorial stands as a permanent tribute to his legacy and the commitment he brought to the job each day. Steve will forever remain part of our union family.

Safe Actions. Save Lives.

Work zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever.

CSEA member and equipment operator for the Town of Yorktown Highway Department, Jake Arcara was killed on September 24, 2022, after being struck by a vehicle while working in a construction zone.

National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is an annual campaign held at the onset of construction season to encourage safe driving through highway work zones. We honor those, like Jake, who were killed or injured while on the job. The underlying message is for drivers to be alert, be aware of their surroundings, and exercise caution when driving in work zones.

When you’re approaching roadway construction, slow down, move over, and don’t zone out!
